Walnut room

After Thanksgiving, we went with Mag's grandma and cousin to the Walnut Room. It was beautiful, but at 10 o'clock in the morning, we could only get lunch! So, Mags had Mac & Cheese for breakfast! She was super happy :) After we ate, dropped off a letter for Santa, and shopped for a bit, we went to The Christkindlmarket and ate some yummy food and saw some really neat decorations.

Dance party

Mag's cousin is turning 4 today and he is having a dance party! I'll post some pictures later, but I wanted to post what I made for the party first. He can hang these up in his room after the party!

Thankful

We made a thankful tree last week. We traced Mags' hands, one of mine, and one of daddy's and used those for the leaves. We each wrote one idea for what we are thankful for one our hand cut-outs:
Daddy: my amazing wife and daughter
Mommy: my family and friends
Mags: love

Mags followed her idea with being thankful for pens, kisses, music, and the best today: mommy! I love her!!

Oops!

So, looking back at my posts, I realized I never put the pictures we took while we were making the Rapunzel costume. So, here they are:

Thanksgiving crafts

We did some Thanksgiving crafts today! I found a few cute ideas from Pinterest, but here are the original locations for the crafts:

We made a turkey wreath with construction paper, a paper plate, and some googly eyes!

And we made a fingerprint turkey, although that one didn't turn out so well!

I'm hoping to do some more Thanksgiving crafts soon, so Maggie knows that there is some time between Halloween and Christmas!

Craft day!

So I needed to get this costume done for Mags! I spent a long time Sunday making the treats for her preschool class, then the braid for her Rapunzel costume, and finally the dress for her Rapunzel costume! It took a long time to finish, but for my first tutu dress, I think it came out alright!

I'll post Halloween pics soon :)

Now is the time for crafting!

Halloween sure is sneaking up on me this year! It's less than a week away and I haven't started mag's costume! So, yesterday we bought all of our supplies at Joann's and I will be working hard on it this weekend! In process and finished pictures to come!

Pirates!

Here are the pics from the pirate party:

Parties!

Mags got to go to her aunt's baby shower with the girls. We ate, played games, and decorated onsies. I'm still waiting to get a picture of the one she decorated because it was hilarious! I made yummy cupcakes and Oreo balls with cupcake toppers to go along with the "rock a bye baby" theme.

Then we just went to B's pirate party! It was so much fun with the kids wearing their pirate outfits, walking the plank, and hitting the piƱata. It was finally not a bad day for his party, which made it even better!

Painting pumpkins is more like it

Mags painted mini pumpkins with her grandma and papa and they looked great! So, when she picked out a super bumpy pumpkin at the pumpkin patch, I thought it would be the perfect pumpkin for painting!

Carving pumpkins

This is the first year we decided to carve pumpkins with Mags. She did a skeleton with daddy and a spider with me. They took way too long and she was pretty bored after a while, but the pumpkins turned out nice! I even baked pumpkin seeds and she loved them.

Pumpkin patch(es)

We went to 2 pumpkin patches this month! Mags loved them both :) her friends are always so nice to invite us with them.

First, we went to Konow's in Homer Glen with her friend Ella and she loved the corn bins! There was corn everywhere, including in her underwear!

Then we went to Siegel's in Crest Hill with her friend Mckenna. Of course, they just played on the slides and jumpy house because that what you do at pumpkin farms, right?

When I grow up

Maggie has been telling me this for months, but I'm just sharing this now. We're interested to see what she says next year!

Swim swim swim

We have tried a few different places for swim lessons for Maggie. We are going into the 3rd week of lessons at Lifetime. Since we have been going there, Maggie has been doing a great job! Her teacher's name is Bob and she seems to like him. The best thing about the lessons at Lifetime though is that Maggie gets to wear goggles!

First day of preschool

Maggie's first day of preschool was Sept. 11th. We dropped her off at 8:45 with no tears and when we picked her up at 10:45 she was still happy. We are so proud of her and how well she is doing. What a big girl!

During the first 2 weeks of school she has been learning about the letter "A" and telling us all about it! She already knows all her letters and a lot of words that start with those letters, but it is really neat to see how excited she is to talk about them!

She also always tells us that she does some coloring or painting and has a yummy snack :)

Looks like it's going to be a good year!

Craft time

Maggie and I are finally working on some more decorations for her room! We started her button monogram, which is taking a bit longer than expected, but she is having fun with it :)

A busy week!

Last week was and this week is going to be a busy week for us! Last week we went to our first farmer's market, visited an amazing library, did some crafts, went to the gym and went to a couple parties :)

Fairbury Fair 2012

We went to the Fairbury Fair on Sunday for Maggie's 3rd time there! It's so much fun going there, riding rides, eating fair food, and seeing our friends and family.

Maggie would only ride the boats and carousel and go in the bounce house (she did go on the helicopters, but she said she was scared when they went high!). And Maggie had her first snow cone :)

Soap clouds

Ethan is staying with us this week and I want to do some fun things while he's here. Unfortunately, it was raining today :(. But I remembered reading about an activity using a bar of Ivory soap (from ourbestbites.com). The kids stood on their stools to watch what happens when we put the soap in the microwave for a minute or so. They thought it was pretty cool!
