More pics from Maggie's first birthday

Here are some more pictures from Maggie's first birthday party. The photographer (our friend Ann) took some great pictures. Maggie was such a trooper after having such a rough night before.

Being a cupcake theme party, I made a lot of cupcakes. Including these yummy cupcake pops! I found them from the blog www.bakerella.com. Besides Maggie, they were the hit of the party!!

Maggie's new cousin

Maggie's new cousin Emma Sue finally arrived on April 27th! We went down to see her and Blake when Emma was 5 days old. Maggie didn't seem to care too much about the baby, but she did look at her and say baby when I held her. She was also pretty jealous if I was holding Emma and not playing with her. Maggie and Blake tried to play together, but the only time that really worked was when Uncle Justin took them to the park.

Aunt Tonia couldn't go at the same time, so she made one request. She wanted to see a picture of the 2 girls in their flower headbands. The didn't fully participate yet, but they are TOO cute!!

Maggie's 1st Birthday!

Maggie's first birthday was very busy.

The night before her party, she woke up from her nap with a fever of 103.5!! Since she didn't have a fever before she fell asleep, and the fever rose so quickly, her body couldn't handle it very well and she had a febrile seizure. It was very scary, but thankfully her daddy was here to take care of her! We went to the emergency room to get her checked out. They said it was a virus and sent her home!

We went ahead with her party the next day because she woke up in the morning back to her regular self (almost). The party was fun! It was a cupcake theme for my little cupcake turning one!! We had a lot of guests, food and nice gifts. Maggie had a very special birthday outfit to show everyone.

After all of the guests left, Maggie started feeling hot again, and her temperature was back to 102.8! Thankfully, her mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa took good care of her and her temp went down to 101.5 before she went to sleep. She's feeling a lot better now.

Maggie's trip to Mexico

Maggie went on her first vacation to Mexico and it was full of excitement!

We flew into Cancun, which was Maggie's first time on an airplane. It was a 3 1/2 hour flight and she did really well! When we landed, we took a 30 minute van ride to the ferry, then about a 20 minute ferry ride to Isla Mujeres. On the ferry ride, we found out that Maggie has some motion sickness because she started throwing up everywhere on the ferry. Poor thing!! I can't forget to mention that it was pouring when we got there and didn't stop for 2 days!!

Things went pretty well after that for us in Mexico and she looked beautiful for her Uncle Erik's rehearsal dinner and wedding. She also got her 8th tooth while we were there! I was wondering why her nose was running so much!

What we've been doing

Maggie and I have been spending a lot of time at her grandparents house. She loves listening to 50s music with grandpa and walking around with grandma. She has found new things that attract her attention, such as the marble fireplace, the glass doors of the entertainment center, and my crutches!

After getting knee surgery in January, I haven't been able to do too much. I can't put any weight on my leg, so I can't carry Maggie around :(

She stood for the longest time today by herself (about 15 seconds)! So, I'm hoping that she and I can start walking at the same time.

She also had some fun with her Aunt Tonia and cousin Ethan! My sisters and Chris have been a great help since I've had this surgery, but I hope I'm better soon!

Maggie's new tricks

Maggie has a lot of new tricks in the last month or so (I know I'm making her sounds like a dog....) ;-)

She can say yes:

She can give five:

She can play Patty Cake:

She can say Mom:

She can say Dad:

She also waves hi and bye, signs for milk, crawls, pulls herself up on things, crawls up the stairs, points at your nose and is working on saying teeth!! I'll try to get as much on video as I can and share it.

What a Winter!

We've had a pretty busy winter! We went to Iowa for Thanksgiving, central Illinois for Christmas, and we had TONS of visitors for New Year's! Maggie got a lot of good presents, but didn't really care about too many of them until a few weeks ago. Now, I'm getting ready for knee surgery in a couple of days and I won't be bale to walk around with Maggie. We'll see how well she deals with that!!
